TV Mounting & Wall Hanging in Brooklyn

The TV has been leaning against the wall in its box since you moved in. It takes us about an hour, and it will be level, centered, and anchored into something that will actually hold it.

When this is the right call

What we take on

  • A TV still in the box, or one you don't trust on its stand
  • Floating shelves that need to hit studs, not just drywall
  • Heavy mirrors and framed art over a sofa or bed
  • Curtain rods, blinds and shades
  • A gallery wall you want laid out before anything gets drilled
  • Cables you'd rather not see running down the wall

Brooklyn walls are not drywall

In most of the country, mounting a TV means finding a stud. In a prewar Brooklyn walk-up it means plaster over wood lath, or solid brick, or a partition wall someone put up in 1978 with no framing behind it worth trusting.

Each of those needs a different anchor, and getting it wrong is how a television ends up on the floor six months later. We find out what's behind the wall before we drill — and if the spot you picked won't hold, we'll tell you before we make a hole in it, not after.

Wires out of sight

We can run cable inside the wall and come out behind a console, or use a paintable channel where fishing the wall isn't practical. In a rental, the channel is usually the right answer — it comes off cleanly and takes the paint with it.

While we're here

Almost nobody has exactly one thing to hang. If there are pictures leaning against the baseboard, a mirror in the closet, or a shelf still flat-packed, get it all out and we'll do it in the same visit. It's the same trip and the same drill.

Pricing

Quoted flat, before we start

We quote the whole job before a tool comes out, and that number is the number you pay. If we open something up and find a problem nobody could have known about, you hear about it the same day — with options and a price — before we do anything about it.
