A running toilet is the most ignored repair in New York, and one of the cheapest to fix. The parts are usually under twenty dollars and the job is usually under an hour.

When this is the right call

What we take on

  • A toilet that runs, ghost-flushes, or takes two handles
  • Dripping faucets and shower heads
  • Swapping in a faucet, shower head or toilet you already bought
  • Slow drains and the trap leaking under the sink
  • Garbage disposals that hum or jam
  • Angle stops and supply lines that look older than you are

What we do, and what we hand off

We handle fixtures and everything downstream of the shutoff valve: faucets, toilets, traps, supply lines, shower heads, disposals, and the small leaks that live under sinks.

Anything inside the wall or upstream of the valve — repiping, main lines, gas, sewer, a leak with no accessible shutoff — is licensed plumber work in New York and we won't touch it. We'll tell you that on the phone before you pay us to come look, and we'll tell you who to call.

Old shutoffs are the real risk

In a prewar building the angle stop under your sink may not have been turned in thirty years. Sometimes it doesn't turn. Sometimes it turns and then won't seal again — which converts a fifteen-minute faucet swap into a call to the super to kill water for the line.

We check the valves first, and if yours look like they'll fight us we'll say so before we start rather than halfway through with your water off. Replacing a seized angle stop while we're already under there is cheap. Doing it as an emergency is not.

Buy your own fixtures

You'll get a better price and exactly the finish you want. We don't mark up materials, and we'd rather you pick the faucet than have us pick it for you. If you want a recommendation on what holds up, ask — we've installed enough of them to have opinions.

Pricing

Quoted flat, before we start

We quote the whole job before a tool comes out, and that number is the number you pay. If we open something up and find a problem nobody could have known about, you hear about it the same day — with options and a price — before we do anything about it.
