Bathroom Renovation in Brooklyn
Bathrooms are the smallest rooms and the most technical. Every trade shows up in a space the size of a parking spot, and the one that matters most — waterproofing — disappears behind the tile on day three.

What we take on
- An original prewar bathroom at the end of its life
- Tub-to-shower conversions
- A bathroom that's leaking into the apartment below
- Tired grout, cracked tile and failing fixtures
- Accessible bathrooms — curbless showers, grab bars, wider access
- Second bathrooms added during a larger renovation
Everything depends on what's behind the tile
In a prewar Brooklyn bathroom the wall behind the tile is often original plaster, sometimes wire lath, and after eighty years of steam it's frequently soft. You don't know until it's open.
That's why an honest bathroom quote has a contingency in it, and why we'd rather open a small area early than promise you a number that assumes the best case. The alternative is the mid-project conversation nobody wants.
You are somebody's ceiling
In an apartment building, a bathroom that leaks doesn't damage your bathroom — it damages your downstairs neighbor's ceiling, and that becomes a claim, a board complaint and a bill. It's the single biggest risk in the room.
So the shower gets a proper waterproofing system: sloped base, sealed seams, membrane up the walls to full height, and a curb detail that doesn't rely on grout to keep water out. It adds a day. It's the most important day.
Staying in your home while it's done
If it's your only bathroom, you need a plan. Most jobs of this kind run two to four weeks depending on scope and how long tile and fixtures take to arrive, and there's a stretch in the middle where the room is unusable.
We'll sequence it to minimize that window and tell you at the quote exactly how many days you'll need to be somewhere else. That number is the one people forget to ask about and the one that ruins the experience when it's a surprise.
Aging in place
If you're renovating a bathroom for a parent, or for yourself in a home you intend to stay in, this is the one moment where the important things cost almost nothing extra: blocking in the walls for grab bars now, a curbless entry, a hand shower, a comfort-height toilet, and lighting that's actually bright enough.
Blocking especially. Putting plywood behind the tile while the wall is open costs almost nothing, and it means a grab bar can go anywhere on that wall, at any time, for the next forty years.
Quoted flat, before we start
We quote the whole job before a tool comes out, and that number is the number you pay. If we open something up and find a problem nobody could have known about, you hear about it the same day — with options and a price — before we do anything about it.
